Scope of Project:

Re-development of 6 New Buildings Near St Paul’s Cathedral

This project was part of a major scheme involving the sensitive redevelopment of office, leisure and retail space in an area close to St Paul’s Cathedral.

The project comprises a total of six new buildings around a carefully designed public square in keeping with the surrounding architecture.

A master plan from William Whitfield was approved in March 1999 with individual buildings within the plan designed by different architectural practices.

The Grove Whitbed was carefully selected by Eric Parry and used to great effect on large areas of the external façade as well as on key features internally; including the foyer and lift lobbies.

BRE tested the block prior to the start of the 50 week manufacturing programme instilled confidence that the Grove Whitbed would easily remain “fit-for-purpose” throughout the buildings long design life.
