This project was part of a major\u00a0scheme involving the sensitive\u00a0redevelopment of office, leisure and\u00a0retail space in an area close to St\u00a0Paul\u2019s Cathedral.<\/p>\n
The project comprises a total of six\u00a0new buildings around a carefully\u00a0designed public square in keeping\u00a0with the surrounding architecture.<\/p>\n
A master plan from William Whitfield\u00a0was approved in March 1999 with\u00a0individual buildings within the plan\u00a0designed by different architectural\u00a0practices.<\/p>\n
The Grove Whitbed was carefully\u00a0selected by Eric Parry and used to\u00a0great effect on large areas of the\u00a0external fa\u00e7ade as well as on key\u00a0features internally; including the\u00a0foyer and lift lobbies.<\/p>\n
BRE tested the block prior to the\u00a0start of the 50 week manufacturing\u00a0programme instilled confidence that\u00a0the Grove Whitbed would easily\u00a0remain \u201cfit-for-purpose\u201d throughout\u00a0the buildings long design life.<\/p>\n
